Here at Exotic Stonewood Flooring, we offer many types of exotic hardwood floors that are imported from South America. We will be featuring a new one each month, so stay tuned for all the great info and benefits to our exotic floors. This month we will be letting you know about Cumaru, which is also known as Brazilian Teak, it is one of the hardest woods in the world.
Cumaru is an extremely durable and beautiful , and it has a relatively soft brown colour. Colour variation in Cumaru flooring planks varies from soft brown to a deeper brown, with occasional dark stripes. Unlike most exotic wood species, Cumaru barely changes colour over time or when exposed to intense sunlight. It’s density, strength and durability make it great for deck options as well. It is ranked 3540 for Janka hardness, which means it is about 160% harder than Red Oak.
For care and maintenance, we would recommend using a mat or rug in high traffic areas to protect the finish. When cleaning, you want to use a microfiber mop or hardwood vacuum to remove dust, dirt and other debris from the floor to prevent scratches. We would also suggest using foam or cloth protectors under your furniture, to prevent scratches when moving around your chairs, tables, couches, etc. Lastly, try your best to clean up spills immediately to prevent the liquid from seeping into the floors.
Cumaru Hardwood is offered in a Prefinished Select & Better Natural or Prefinished Rustic. We also do custom stain colours. Previously, Cumaru has been stained for clients in a Brandy colour, and a Chocolate colour.
